Link Begging :
Don’t waste time chasing reciprocal linking partners. That is time you can
better spend working on the content and quality of your site. Spend your
time building wealth not building link pages. Spending time to get a link
on one of those those 1,000+ link "link pages" is about the most worthless
thing you can do for your web site.
To be successfull links must be placed on the home page or content pages
of popular, highly ranked web sites because in many cases, link page
links are discounted severely by the search engines.
The secret formula :
One way or another, find 2-5 highly ranked, "Power Websites" that will
link to you. Then back-fill by exchanging links with 20 or 30 quality
websites using the "key phrase" anchor text you are targeting.
Time is Money :
By following this method, you'll get a large search engine ranking boost
and it's less time consuming watch-dogging a few high quality links than
managing 100s or 1,000s of garbage links worrying that one of them may
be a “bad neighborhood” and get penalized then pass their poor fortune
on to you.
You should never spend more then 5% of your time on link building as there
are far more important things to add to your site then a bunch of
worthless links to reciprocal linking partners who "forget" to link back
to you or just plain ignore your link begging overtures.
Let the Beggars Come to You :
Then when you have a highly ranked site with high rankings, quality
linking partners will naturally come to you and you will be able to
pick and choose very carefully who gets a link, where they link to,
and what anchor text they will use. Make sure you choose only those
links that add value to your site. Either in the way of content or
link-pop.
